Fine Art Landscape Photography

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 20, 2000 - Lander, Wyoming - Scenic Prints announced that it has launched its redesigned web site (www.scenicprints.com) today. The new site is hosted by Wyoming.com and is visible to all customers of Wyoming.com immediately. Due to the time required for all other Internet Service Providers to update their servers, it will take approximately 72 hours for the renovated site to be visible to the entire World Wide Web.

Chris Robisch, Scenic Prints' photographer and owner, cited many reasons for the site's renovation. "In a nutshell, the old version just didn't cut it. It was slow, unattractive, difficult to navigate, was aesthetically boring, and the images themselves were not sharp and clear", Robisch stated. "I've been trying to get the site up to a more professional level while making it enjoyable for visitors. I finally took matters into my own hands and, I think, created something that people will really appreciate and enjoy", Robisch concluded.

According to Robisch, the site's focus remains firmly on his fine art landscape photography. However, he has made a concerted effort to greatly improve the clarity and detail of each photograph. The navigation is simple and convenient while purchasing a fine art photograph is easy and safe. Robisch explained some of the improvements. "For starters, I think people browsing on the Web like to move around a site based on their desires, not the webmaster's. The navigation structure is designed with only that in mind", Robisch pointed out. "The site showcases the photography without 'screaming' at the viewer. While someone can easily figure out how to purchase one of the photographs, there are no flashing lights and annoying sounds to the process. Of course, we maintained credit card ordering through a secure encryption process."

Robisch completed the design and construction of the site, however Webwright, Inc. provided a great deal of input and advice. "Shannon (Watts), Manager of Webwright, really helped with a bunch of stuff. His expertise and instruction was absolutely necessary. I'm very pleased, Shannon and his staff did a remarkable job", Robisch said. Webwright, Inc., a division of Wyoming.com, built the shopping cart system that www.scenicprints.com utilizes and also built the electronic postcard system users will enjoy.

A great deal of thought and planning went into this project and can be seen during a visit to the web site. Robisch explains the results of this process in more detail. "I also wanted to add free electronic postcards to the site, so that people could enjoy that service without reaching into their wallets. I think that will make it fun for some people", Robisch said. Additionally, Robisch mentioned that informative articles and company press releases continue to be available, as well as the inclusion of informative text for each image displayed. "The last thing, and maybe the most important point, is that the color scheme of the site is not too dark, nor is it too light. I think I've created a scheme that best showcases the photography and is 'calm and pleasing' in nature. Also, people hate to wait for a page to load. I remembered that, and thus, the site is remarkably quick; especially for a photography site".

If this version is that much better, how bad was the previous site? "It was pretty bad, but probably not as bad as I make it out to be", Robisch laughs. "I admit I can be a bit overly-critical of my work. I did receive compliments about the old site and people did buy some of my work through it. However, it really is better now. It's easier for the customer and it's so much more enjoyable for everyone…especially me", Robisch smiled. "It's a completely new site; those that saw the old site, won't recognize this one", Robisch concluded. If many people liked the old version, is Robisch worried about people not liking this version? "No. I'm really not worried about too many negative comments this time. I was with the old version and that's why I made this change".
