Oxbow Bend in Grand Teton NP in Wyoming - October, 2001

I eagerly anticipated this morning; the fall colors at their peak, crisp autumn air, etc. I initially was disappointed to see that the overcast and drizzle was not clearing off. I decided to use what appeared to be a liability and create something unique, colorful, and soft. It's somewhat surprising now, to think that the sky's blue-grey color of the moment, with a splash of the aspen's brilliance, were components of an uninspiring composition. Sometimes, it's good to be positive and go with my gut.

This image was a finalist in the 2002 Photographers' Forum International Photo Contest. It has been published in the Best of Photography Annual published by Serbin Communications.
