Navy Beach of Mono Lake in California - June, 2005

Exposed limestone mounds surround Mono Lake. After much of the lake's water was diverted (starting in 1941) these natural formations became exposed. This tufa formation at sunset provides an interesting and natural contrast to the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the spring storm descending from its crest.
